Webtrace Fair Use Policy

This policy defines how Webtrace meters usage, what counts as one workflow, and what usage we consider abusive. The goal is simple: real designers and developers should never feel the meter; the limits exist only to keep the Free plan sustainable for a solo developer and to stop automated abuse.

1. What is metered

• Usage is metered in design workflows, shared as one quota across the Chrome extension and the Figma plugin.
• A workflow begins when you run a metered capture in the extension or a metered import in the plugin. Capturing a page and later importing that same capture together consume one workflow, not two.

2. What counts as one workflow

• One page captured + that capture imported into Figma = 1 workflow, regardless of how many viewport × theme frames the capture contains or how many of them you select. A multi-viewport capture (e.g. 1920 + 1440 + 768 + 390, light and dark) of a single page still counts as one.
• Re-importing the same captured file again is free — the capture carries a usage receipt proving it was already counted.
• Recapturing a live page creates a new capture and counts as a new workflow.
• Importing a .wtrace file that has no usage receipt (from an older Webtrace version or external tooling) counts as one workflow at import time.
• Import options (Infer auto-layout, Create styles & variables, Combine repeated items, High-res images) do not affect the count.
• Failed or cancelled operations do not count. If the capture or import errors out before producing usable output, the reserved workflow is released back to you.

3. Free plan: 8 workflows per month

The Free plan includes 8 workflows per month, measured on a rolling 30-day window. "Rolling" means there is no monthly reset date: each workflow stops counting against you 30 days after the moment it happened. Example: if you use all 8 on August 1, your next workflow becomes available on August 31; if you spread them out, capacity returns gradually. The meter is tracked on your Webtrace account so Chrome and Figma always agree.

4. Paid plan quotas: 500 (Pro) and 1,000 (Pro Max) workflows per month

Pro includes 500 workflows per month and Pro Max includes 1,000 workflows per month — the Pro Max cap alone is roughly 45 per working day, far beyond normal human use. These quotas exist to prevent the abuse patterns in Section 5, not to constrain heavy legitimate users. If you have a genuine workflow volume that approaches your plan's quota, email us — we would honestly love to hear about it, and we will find a way to support it.

5. Anti-abuse

The following are violations of this policy and of the Acceptable Use section of the Terms:

• Meter circumvention: tampering with, resetting, or spoofing the usage meter, forging or altering usage receipts, or modifying the extension or plugin to exceed your plan's limits.
• Account/seat sharing: sharing one individual plan across multiple people. Plans are licensed per named user.
• Automation farming: scripted or bulk-automated import pipelines designed to extract volume far beyond interactive use.
• Resale of the meter: offering Webtrace imports as a paid service to third parties (an "import farm") rather than using them in your own or your team's work.

Enforcement is proportionate: for a first issue we will normally reach out or throttle; repeated or egregious abuse can lead to suspension or termination under the Terms. We will never penalize ordinary heavy use — the caps above are the line, not typical usage.
